Managing Counsel, The Allstate Corporation
Ed Collins is currently serving as National Director of ProtectingAmerica.org—a coalition of first responders, emergency management professionals, building code experts, business leaders and others.
ProtectingAmerica.org is working to raise awareness, educate the public and policymakers and offer public policy solutions that will better prepare and protect America from catastrophe.
Mr. Collins is also Managing Counsel for The Allstate Corporation. He began his career with Allstate in 1985 as an intern in the Law and Regulation Department. After graduating magna cum laude from law school (Southern Illinois University, B.A.& J.D.), he joined Allstate full-time. He has held various positions within Allstate’s Law and Regulation Department, covering virtually the entire range of legal and public policy issues an insurance company faces.
At Allstate, he has managed processes to set up companies, withdraw companies, and operate them profitably in the nation’s most challenging markets. He has managed complex litigation, including numerous rate cases from the filing stage and through the administrative hearing and appellate processes in the courts.
Throughout his career, he has led Allstate’s legislative and regulatory affairs in numerous states. He helped create and implement Allstate’s Regional Counsel organization and now leads this team in managing Allstate’s legislative and regulatory affairs on a countrywide basis.
Mr. Collins is also a member of the Association of Corporate Counsel and has served on numerous other boards and governmental task forces involving important legal, insurance and business issues.
