BIO
 William E. Bailey is the director of the Hurricane Insurance Information Center (HIIC) in Jackson, MS. The Center was established to inform and educate consumers and the media regarding insurance issues in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. He is also special counsel to the Insurance Information Institute.
Bill served as the director of the first HIIC established in Miami, Florida following Hurricane Andrew in 1992. In 1999, he served as the director of the Tornado Insurance Information Center following the Oklahoma City Tornado. He was also appointed co-director of the Disaster Insurance Information Center in New York City following the World Trade Center and Pentagon attacks on September 11, 2001.
Bill has served as special counsel to the Insurance Information Institute, a national trade association representing the property/casualty industry since 1986.
For the last 12 years, he has hosted the syndicated talk radio program “It’s Your Money! (What are you going to do with it?)”, which airs live, nationally every Sunday from noon to 2:00 P.M. (E.T.) on the National Radio Network.
A graduate of Harvard College (B.A. 1962), Harvard Law School (J.D. 1968) and the Union Graduate School and University (Ph.D. 1996), Bailey also received his CPCU designation in 1993.
Following graduation from law school, Bill joined the Boston law firm of Hale and Dorr. In 1970, he became an Associate in the law firm of his brother, F. Lee Bailey. During the years 1970-1977, in addition to practicing law, Bill was actively engaged in real estate development.
In 1977, Bill joined Commercial Union Insurance Company in Boston in the newly created post of Vice-President/Senior Claims Counsel. In 1979, he was promoted to Senior Vice President and placed in charge of the Home Office claims department.
In 1983, Bill formed Litigation Systems, Inc., with two other former Commercial Union executives. Litigation Systems, Inc. was a litigation support services company specializing in mass tort litigation.
In 1986, Bill joined the Insurance Information Institute as Special Counsel. He travels all across the United States appearing on live television and radio programs and speaking to a variety of audiences. He is a frequent lecturer at industry seminars and communications training sessions.
Bill is a member of The American Bar Association, The Massachusetts Bar Association, The Federation of Insurance and Corporate Counsel, The Defense Research Institute, and is past President and Chairman of the Massachusetts Defense Lawyers Association. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Norman Vincent Peale Foundation and President of the National Consumer Education Foundation.
