 | MEDIA ADVISORY: I.I.I. Offers Economic Assessment of Terrorism Risk Insurance Act Extension
NEW YORK, December 11, 2007 — The president of the Insurance Information Institute (I.I.I.), Dr. Robert Hartwig, is available to speak with reporters covering this week’s U.S. House of Representatives debate on the Terrorism Risk Insurance Program Reauthorization Act of 2007 (H.R. 4299). The existing law governing terrorism insurance is scheduled to expire on Dec. 31, 2007.
“The threat of terrorist attacks is a source of tremendous uncertainty for the United States economy, with negative consequences for both business interests and employment,” said Dr. Hartwig. “Implementation of a long-term terrorism risk insurance program is an essential component of the nation’s effort to protect the financial homeland. The proposed multi-year extension will protect millions of businesses and their workers.”
Interviews with Dr. Hartwig can be arranged by contacting Michael Barry, vice president of Media Relations for the I.I.I., at 212-346-5542 or via email at michaelb@iii.org.
