This PowerPoint report, presented by Robert Hartwig, president of the Insurance Information Institute, provides a global economic overview and outlook, with a focus on the Middle East. The presentation emphasizes the insurance and reinsurance implications of the current international economic situation, in particular, the implications of the persistent low-yield environment. Sections are devoted to an oil and energy market overview, including price trends, long-term supply, demand and infrastructure considerations and insurance implications; and the unfortunate ties between opportunity, risk and uncertainty. This section includes a review of the top 10 risks for the global economy. A final section looks at global catastrophe loss trends and threats.
