NEW YORK, August 24, 2015 — Reporters covering the 10-year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina and interested in interviewing insurance experts about hurricanes, floods and other natural disasters are encouraged to contact the Insurance Information Institute (I.I.I.).

The I.I.I. can provide information on the economic impact of hurricanes, including state-specific data on historic hurricane-caused insurance claim payouts. I.I.I. staff can also talk about the lessons learned from the experience of Hurricane Katrina for homeowners, renters and business owners.

To explain #Katrina10 by the numbers, the I.I.I.’s Research and Creative teams have created an infographic that details both the path of the storm, which made landfall in Louisiana as a Category 3 Hurricane on August 29, 2005, as well as the Gulf region’s path back from the devastation caused by the event.

I.I.I. spokespeople are available in New York City, Florida and Atlanta, Georgia. On-site interviews in New Orleans can also be arranged. In addition, Dr. Robert Hartwig I.I.I. president and an economist, Jeanne Salvatore, chief communications officer and consumer spokesperson, and Elianne González, the I.I.I.’s Hispanic press officer, will also be available via Satellite to conduct broadcast interviews on Thursday, August 27, from 6 a.m. to 12 noon EST.
