This PowerPoint report, presented by Robert Hartwig, president of the Insurance Information Institute at the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of Suffolk & Tri-County in Melville, NY, covers the financial state of the P/C insurance industry after Hurricane Sandy.  Prior to Sandy the P/C profits were up due to lower catastrophe loses and the presentation shows that currently the impact from Sandy is still being calculated.  The presentation also goes into personal lines profitability analysis showing significant variability over time across different states.  This analysis then focuses on New York P/C markets and compares these results with nearby states.  Also the report shows how Sandy will become one of the most expensive events in insurance history.
