Life and non-life insurers are exposed to a variety of risks associated with the current crisis in corporate governance. These include investment risk, insurance risk (directors & officers, errors & omissions, surety, financial guarantee), litigation risk, regulatory risk and accounting risk. This presentation explores the origins of the crisis, explores the risks faced by insurers and their manageability, discusses the current state of the D&O market, the role of insurers as large institutional investors and surveys some of the solutions proposed to help end the crisis.
