CATASTROPHE MODELING FORUMS
Changing Climatic Dynamics and Catastrophe Model Projections
New York City

In 2007 and 2008, the Center for Health and the Global Environment at Harvard Medical School, in partnership with the Insurance Information Institute and with the support of AIG and Lloyd’s, assembled groups of business and academic stakeholders to participate in two catastrophe modeling forums. The goal of these forums was to discuss and analyze how changing climate dynamics in the oceans, polar regions and atmosphere may affect catastrophe modeling output, and to better inform the insurance/reinsurance sector regarding the changing landscape of climate-based risks.

The Catastrophe Modeling Forums (CMFs), held in New York City on October 16-17, 2007 and June 11-12, 2008, were based on the premise that global temperatures are increasing, that other evidence of climate change is already being observed and that it is highly likely that human activities are the cause of most of this change. The result of the Catastrophe Modeling Forums (CMFs) included a compendium of papers by the scientific and modeling communities along with a report covering these findings.

Below is a link to the various papers, presentations and findings.
