Karen Clark
President & Chief Executive Officer
AIR Worldwide Corporation

Karen Clark is the Founder, President and Chief Executive Officer of AIR Worldwide Corporation (AIR), a leading risk modeling and technology firm specializing in risks associated with natural and man-made catastrophes, weather and climate. An internationally recognized expert in the field of catastrophe loss estimation, she has been helping property insurers and reinsurers estimate potential losses from natural hazards since 1983.

Ms. Clark pioneered the application of probabilistic catastrophe modeling techniques for the insurance industry and has led the development of several innovative technologies that are now industry standard systems for insurance pricing, underwriting and reinsurance decision-making.

Today, AIR models cover all major natural hazards, including hurricanes, earthquakes, winter storms, tornadoes, hailstorms and flood, for more than 40 countries throughout North America, the Caribbean, South America, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. AIR also models man-made perils. In the wake of the tragic events of September 11, 2001, AIR developed and introduced the first fully probabilistic terrorism model capable of quantifying the risk from this emerging threat.

Ms. Clark has authored or co-authored a number of technical papers on the subject of natural hazards and property losses and her material is currently included in Chapter V of the CPCU textbook for Part V, Insurance Operations. In April 2001, she was honored as Woman of the Year by the Association of Professional Insurance Women (APIW). In October 2000, she was selected by Business Insurance as one of the “Top 100 Women in the Insurance Industry.” She holds a Masters Degree in Economics and an MBA, both from Boston University.
