This is Jeanne Salvatore, senior vice president and consumer spokesperson at the Insurance Information Institute. What follows are two radio actualities on credit and insurance. One is 30 seconds and the second is 60 seconds.

Building a solid credit history affects consumers in a surprising number of ways. It influences everything from renting an apartment, getting a mortgage, applying for a job and qualifying for a lower rate on auto or home insurance.

Sound bite two:

The importance of good money management can’t be stressed enough. Building and maintaining a solid credit history is one of the important things you can to do ensure your financial well being. Your credit history can work for or against you when you apply for a job, rent an apartment, start a business, sign up for utilities, secure a loan, and purchase auto or home insurance.
