This is Dr. Steven Weisbart, vice president and economist at the Insurance Information Institute.

What follows is are 30-second and 60-second radio actualities to accompany the news release on tips for finding a lost or unclaimed life insurance policy.

“When people ask how to confirm the existence of a loved one’s life insurance policy or track down a lost policy, the Insurance Information Institute, offers six tips:
  1. search bank safe deposit boxes,
  2. consult current and prior financial advisors,
  3. contact previous employers
  4. review applications for known life insurance policies
  5. use the NAIC’s Company Location System at http://www.naic.org
  6. and consider a private search firm.”
