This PowerPoint report, presented at the Griffith Foundation Insurance Education & Career Summit by Steven Weisbart, senior vice president and chief economist of the Insurance Information Institute, looks at property/casualty (P/C) insurance industry employment in these times of economic turmoil. Sections discuss and show data related to whether the industry employs younger workers in proportion to their numbers in the labor force as a whole and whether the P/C insurance industry pays as well as other employment. Further sections focus on how the P/C insurance industry can attract new hires to a shrinking industry and whether the recent decline in the number of agents and brokers is permanent or temporary.
