NEW YORK, June 11, 2019InsureTech Connect (ITC) and the Insurance Information Institute (I.I.I.) are proud to announce the launch of the first annual Resiliency Insurance Innovation Challenge, to highlight emerging companies and their innovative approaches to the long-standing problems of disaster preparedness and responsiveness.

“The Insurance Information Institute recognizes the increasing risk, both in frequency and in severity, posed by catastrophic events. We wanted to challenge the insurance community to think more strategically about resiliency and how innovative technological solutions can be deployed to make individuals, businesses and communities more prepared and better able to manage this growing risk. We are excited to partner with ITC to discover and showcase emerging companies at the forefront of resiliency,” said Sean Kevelighan, CEO of the Insurance Information Institute.

The competition is open to companies that are less than five years old and with fewer than 100 employees. The registration period opens June 11, 2019 and runs until July 12, 2019. The broader insurance community will have an opportunity to help select the three finalists during public voting between August 1, 2019 and August 15, 2019.

InsureTech Connect will host the final event as a part of ITC’s 2019 conference, September 23-25, 2019 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, where three finalists will present to a live audience of judges. The winner will be the Insurtech that demonstrates the most innovative and practical resiliency solution.

“InsureTech Connect is committed to fostering global innovation and increasing Insurtech's impact on the insurance industry. Partnering with the I.I.I. helps ITC continue with our mission while drawing attention to the increasing threat from emergent events. With this competition, we hope to inspire the community as a whole to apply cutting edge resources to address the challenges of resiliency,” said Jay Weintraub, Founder & CEO of InsureTech Connect.
