Former Insurance Information Institute Economist Dies at 70

Dr. Sean F. Mooney, CPCU, an accomplished insurance industry veteran, died at the age of 70 on Tuesday, February 17. He resided in New York City. 

 

Dr. Mooney was an economist at the Insurance Information Institute from 1982 to 1998, and after that, was a research director, economist, and senior vice president at Guy Carpenter & Company, Inc.

 

He received both a B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in mathematics from University College in Dublin, Ireland; an M.A. in economics from Fordham University in New York City; and a Ph.D. in economics from the University of California, Los Angeles.
