SPONSORED BY

This PowerPoint report, given at the PCI Legislative & Political Conference, focuses on the trends, challenges and opportunities unique to the so-called Sharing or On-demand Economy. Insurers need to respond to the all the many ways—both simple and complex—that this movement is impacting everyday life. Many property/casualty lines are affected, including professional and other liability coverages, auto, homeowners and workers compensation. The report includes an Uber case study to illustrate that point. As new areas of liability open up, new insurance solutions are becoming necessary and thus more common. Special attention is also paid to the influence technology has had and will continue to have on reshaping the traditional American labor market. As well large portion of the presentation addresses tech-loving Millennials, who have now overtaken Baby Boomers as the largest generation, and their attitude and behavior regarding the purchase of insurance. The report further discusses Millennials as employees, making the point that they are the only way to fill the talent gap currently facing the insurance industry overall.
