Former National Security Advisor General Brent Scowcroft Among Speakers to Address Joint Industry Forum

NEW YORK, January 3, 2002 - Former National Security Advisor Gen. Brent Scowcroft and Richard E. Cavanagh, president and chief executive officer of The Conference Board, are among the speakers at the sixth annual Property/Casualty Insurance Joint Industry Forum to be held January 15-16, 2002, at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City.

The Property/Casualty Insurance Joint Industry Forum was created to provide property/casualty insurance and reinsurance company leaders with an opportunity to meet with each other in discussion of topics of general interest.

A panel of leading experts will discuss how they see the future of the property/casualty industry. Participants include Kenneth A. Froot, professor of Business Administration, Harvard University's Graduate School of Business; Robert E. Litan, vice president and director of Economic Studies, The Brookings Institution; Michael S. Pritula, director, McKinsey & Company; and Alice Schroeder, managing director, Morgan Stanley. Sean F. Mooney, chief economist and research director for Guy Carpenter & Company, Inc., will moderate the panel.

A panel of insurance company chief executives will discuss how they see the future of the property/casualty industry. Participants include Herman J. Arends, chairman and chief executive officer, Auto-Owners Insurance Company; Raymond Barrette, chairman and chief executive officer, OneBeacon Insurance Group; Edmund F. Kelly, chairman, president and chief executive officer, Liberty Mutual; David B. Mathis, chairman and chief executive officer, Kemper Insurance Companies; Ronald R. Pressman, chairman, president and chief executive officer, GE Employers Reinsurance Corporation; and Saxon Riley, chairman, Lloyd's. Lawrence G. Brandon, president emeritus, American Institute for CPCU/Insurance Institute of America, will moderate the panel.

The Forum will conclude with lunch.
