NEW YORK, Sept. 27, 2021—The Climate Risk and Resilience panel at a renowned insurance industry conference is convening on Tuesday, Oct. 5, at 2 p.m., PT, in Las Vegas and will be moderated by Sean Kevelighan, CEO, Insurance Information Institute (Triple-I).

The Triple-I has taken a leading role in educating the public and policymakers on the issues of climate risk and resilience. Kevelighan, for instance, was featured throughout CNBC Digital’s just-released online documentary, America's Climate Crisis: Living In Harm's Way. In addition, the Triple-I has launched products like its Resilience Accelerator and created issue backgrounders on insurance industry Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives.

“The Triple-I continues to inform discussions on climate risk to ensure consumers, policymakers, and other key audiences appreciate the role of insurance, but also how individual and community development behaviors, as well as public policy behaviors, need to change. Insurance is the first step toward resilience, but there is more to be done in terms of making sure we are doing our part for the 'E' in ESG,” Kevelighan stated.

The Climate Risk and Resilience panelists gathering at InsureTech Connect on Tuesday, Oct. 5, for the 50-minute session include Sean Ringsted, Executive Vice President, Chubb Group, Chief Digital Officer and Chief Risk Officer; Christie McNeill, Associate Partner, McKinsey & Company; and Alisa Valderrama, CEO & Co-Founder, FutureProof.

“The long-term resilience of both the communities impacted by natural disasters and the insurance industry itself depend on preparedness and improved risk mitigation,” Kevelighan said. “More insured communities recover faster from disasters.”

The 2021 edition of InsureTech Connect starts on Monday, Oct. 4, and concludes on Wednesday, Oct. 6. It is being held at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.
