Insurance, the “Sharing Economy", Millennials, and More

SPONSORED BY

This PowerPoint report examines the role of insurance within the “on-demand economy,” and millennials. The report looks at how the sharing economy will influence the workforce in the future and the property casualty insurance industry. Technology and employment are two factors that have made the on-demand economy possible. However, on-demand platforms have struggled with the issue of liability. Being a provider of services in the on-demand economy is attractive to workers in the 25 to 44 age range (who want flexibility in raising families) as well as seniors age 65+ who see offering their services on-demand as a way to augment retirement income. The presentation also notes that insurance industry employees are much older than in most industries and that by 2020, insurers will have an estimated 400,000 job openings.
