This PowerPoint report, presented by Robert Hartwig, president of the Insurance Information Institute, at the Willis Re Florida Insurance Summit, focuses on the Florida property insurance market, noting that low catastrophe losses in Florida and elsewhere helped make 2013 the best year for the industry in the post-crisis era. The presentation includes sections showing property/casualty performance and historical impacts in Florida; Florida profitability and growth analyses; a Florida economic outlook and property exposure impacts; and a catastrophe loss update, including the state’s historical role. Another section shows how hurricanes are no longer Florida’s only worry. Tornadoes, sinkholes and flood surge have also become major insurance issues. The report concludes with sections on flood insurance, and reinsurance markets and new capital.
