NEW YORK, August 15, 2018—Thousands of New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania residents and businesses are either recovering from—or dealing with—property damage caused by this month’s severe flooding.

The Insurance Information Institute (I.I.I.) can discuss the insurance implications of these floods and provide tips to help communities get back on their feet.

The I.I.I.’s backgrounder on flood insurance is posted on its website, as is the I.I.I.’s facts and statistics on flood insurance.

Numerous flash flood warnings were announced in those three states on Monday evening, Aug. 13, and states of emergency were declared in various areas on Tuesday, Aug. 14. Meanwhile, heavy rainfall is predicted to continue in parts of the Northeast through the end of this week (Aug. 13-17).
