NEW YORK, February 6, 2020 – Richard P. Creedon, chairman of the board and chief executive officer of the member companies of the Utica National Insurance Group, has been elected chairman of the Insurance Information Institute’s (Triple-I) board of directors.

“Rich Creedon has been a dedicated member of the Triple-I’s board since 2016, most recently serving as a member of our Finance Committee,” stated Sean Kevelighan, CEO, Triple-I. “Rich is a strong proponent of our mission to be the trusted source of unique, data-driven insights on insurance that inform and empower consumers. I look forward to working with him closely and learning from his proven leadership skills as well as his knowledge of the industry we serve.”

“The Triple-I is the go-to resource for consumers, media outlets, and professionals seeking useful insurance information,” said Creedon, “so I appreciate the opportunity to help the Institute continue to do its good work as it marks its 60th anniversary in 2020.”

Creedon, who will serve a two-year term as Triple-I’s board chairman, succeeds Hank Watkins, regional director & president, Americas, Lloyd’s.

“We are grateful to Hank Watkins for serving as the chairman of the Triple-I’s board of directors in 2018 and 2019,” Kevelighan stated. “Hank led the board like he does in business -- with integrity. And he consistently kept the Triple-I’s best interests at heart.”

Creedon joined the Utica National Insurance Group in 1998. He was elected CEO of Utica Mutual Insurance Company, its lead company, in 2016 and named the chairman of its board of directors in 2019. Earlier in his career with the company, Creedon oversaw the Claims department and served as General Counsel.

A summa cum laude graduate of Framingham State College, Creedon earned a juris doctorate from the University of New Hampshire School of Law. He is a member of the New Hampshire Bar Association, and in addition to his service as a Triple-I board member, Creedon also is a member of the board of directors at the Property & Liability Resource Bureau (PLRB) and the American Property Casualty Insurance Association (APCIA) and the APCIA PAC board of directors. He is also on the Benefits & Compensation Committee of the APCIA. He is a Director of the Mohawk Valley Edge and a Council Member of the Mohawk Valley Regional Economic Development Council.
