The National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) reported 659.9 thousand vehicles were stolen in 2025 – a drop below the one million mark for the second consecutive year and a 35.4 percent decrease from 2023, when vehicle thefts hit their highest volume in over 40 years. The 2024 figure is a 16.7 percent decrease from 2023. According to their report, Hyundai vehicles experienced the highest theft rates in 2025.

According to The Identity Theft Research Center (ITRC) Annual Data Breach Report, 2025 had the highest number of data compromises in the U.S. in a single year since the ITRC began tracking data events in 2005, up 3.7 percent from the record set in 2023. There were a total of 278.8 million victim notices issued and 3,322 data compromise.
