NEW YORK, February 4, 2020— Furthering its ongoing and collaborative work to enhance talent recruitment efforts among the U.S.’s college students and young professionals, the Insurance Information Institute (Triple-I) will once again be a key partner to the annual Insurance Careers Month (ICM), now in its fifth year.

“Triple-I has partnered with Insurance Careers Month since its inception in 2016 because we believe in our industry working together to creatively and collectively help young Americans step onto the insurance launch pad that will undoubtedly catapult them into an exciting career of opportunities,” said Sean Kevelighan, CEO, Triple-I. “What’s more, we want young people to know about the diverse and exciting job opportunities the insurance industry offers, and that’s exactly what ICM sets out to do each February. Insurance is an economic powerhouse; we employ nearly three million Americans in a vast variety of jobs from underwriting, to accounting, to asset management, to marketing, to IT and programming; you name it, and more than likely we’ve got a job.”

The Triple-I has ties to these three ICM events during February 2020:

Tuesday, Feb. 11: Gamma Iota Sigma (GIS) is hosting The Pipeline: The Insurance Industry’s Virtual Career Fair for Collegiate Talent between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., EST. The online Fair has in previous years connected hundreds of students of all majors with insurance industry employers seeking entry-level and internship candidates. There is no registration fee for students. Participating employers are given a virtual booth staffed by recruiters and may post open positions to the GIS Career Center all month long. Founded in 1965, GIS’s membership includes over 4,000 students at 76 colleges and universities throughout North America. The Triple-I’s Kevelighan is a member of the GIS’s board of trustees.

Wednesday, Feb. 12: James Ballot, the Triple-I’s Senior Advisor, Strategic Communications, and Lynne McChristian, a Triple-I Non-Resident Scholar and the Director of the Office of Risk Management & Insurance Research at the University of Illinois, at Urbana-Champaign, will be teaming up with Jacobson Group for a live Twitter Chat between noon and 1 p.m., CST.  Participants will discuss the “culture, innovation, and diversity and inclusion in the insurance industry.” Two hashtags are being used for the one-hour session: #ICM2020Chat and #InsuranceCareersMonth. Tony Cañas, Client Advisor, Jacobson Group, is the featured speaker. Participation in the ICM-Jacobson Group Twitter Chat soared in 2019. For instance, about 2,500 users created 9,000-plus posts in 2019, nearly doubling 2018’s numbers, when approximately 1,200 users created more than 5,100 social media posts.

Tuesday, Feb. 25: Dr. Michel Léonard, CBE, the Triple-I’s Vice President, Senior Economist, will join Samara Jaffe, Managing Director, InsureTech Connect, to discuss An Innovative Era: Transformation in Insurance, Talent, and Evolving Customer Expectations at the American Property Casualty Insurance Association’s (APCIA) second annual Emerging Leaders Conference (Feb. 23-25). The session is being conducted from 9:10 to 9:50 a.m., CST, at the Kimpton Hotel Van Zandt, 605 Davis Street, Austin, Tx.
